I'm a retired middle school science teacher (27 years) and instructional coach (8 years). I was the coordinator for new teacher induction for my school district. I'm a wife, a mother, a sister, a traveler and a curriculum writer. As you might possibly have guessed, I'm a Utahn, but I fit few of the stereotypes that people hold about Utahns. There are, in fact, politically progressive Utahns. I'm one of them. I'm related to the other five.
I do genealogy work as a hobby, and have taken my mother's side of the family tree back to years that have two digits. One of my ancestors was John Alden, who arrived in America on the Mayflower. I have no idea why that matters, but I like knowing it. It makes history more meaningful to me when I have a personal connection to it.
In my career I worked with some truly fabulous educators and I learned so much from them. I hope to pay it forward with my blog and share with you the best of the strategies and tips I learned from hundreds of other teachers. Maybe you can pass them on to the next generation where they can be built upon and tweaked to make them even better. And I'd love to hear about your own experiences and anything you have to offer to the other readers of the blog. So feel free to start a conversation by commenting on a blog post!
